Effigy Mounds National Monument

This was the first major stop of my Summer of 2021 trip and it was a good warm up visit for the rest of the trip. The visitor center provided plenty of information about the history and details of the site. The looping hike to see the various mounds, especially the Little Bear and Great Bear mounds is worth time. It's just over 2 miles round trip with some decent incline right at the start and includes great views of the river from Fire Point. It was great to test out the go-pro backpack mounting I had been working on and met some wonderful folks along the way. Unless you plan to do every hike available, it's safe to assume visiting this place effectively will only take about half a day at most.
