Gateway Arch National Park (Jefferson Expansion Memorial)
In 2004, Lindsay and I drove across country from Seattle to home in a Mazda RX-8. We weren't able to stop everywhere, but made what memories we could along the way. Sadly, the number one memory we have this visit was the White Castle that we had never had before and afterwards, swore we would never have again. Going to the top of the Arch can be a bit unnerving on a normal day, but to do with White Castle burgers not settling well made it memorable for a whole host of other reasons.Â
This was the first National Park visit of the 2022 Summer Road-trip with Kahlan, Avery, and William. We stopped here first thing in the morning after our first day of driving and took the Tram to the top. I made sure to tell them as little as possible about 'how' the tram gets to top to avoid any of them getting cold feet. Kahlan had to confront her fear of heights a bit once at the top, but they all enjoyed the experience in the end.Â
