Nicodemus National Historic Site

I almost skipped this stop during the Summer 2021 trip due to time constraints, but it was worth getting up a little extra early in the morning to include this one in my tour of Kansas. This was the site of a haven for free black men in the 1800's and they have done a great job of preservation and education around the historical significance. It is the only remaining town west of the Mississippi still in existence founded by former slaves.
