Canyonlands National Park
During our epic 2022 Summer Road-trip with Kahlan, Avery, and William, I had the opportunity to visit another of the "Big 5" in Utah. However we spent a little too much time leaving Mesa Verde in the morning that reducing our available visitation time.
Heading to the Canyonlands from southern side of Utah had us visiting the Needles District first. It was about an hour drive through the park to the visitor center, but it was the time spent snaking our way through the heart of the southern side the Canyon with some gorgeous views. Most folks rave about Arches, but of the two in parks on this side of Utah, Canyonlands is where I want to really spend more time.
In 2023, we were able to take the scenic driving tour of the Island District which was great, but I think I'd still like to get back to the Needles district for some solid hikes.
April, 2023 Visit - Island in the Sky District
One the return leg of the 2023 Wave Hike road trip, we spent a night in Moab allowing us an afternoon to enjoy the scenice drive and overlook view points of the Island District in Canyonlands. Viewing the landscape and various canyons from the elevated plateau.
