Devils Tower National Monument

In 2001, I threw my laptop and a bag of clothes in my two seater convertible (MR2-Spyder) and drove across country. I was aiming for Colorado Springs with a stop in the Seattle area. While en-route, I tried to stop and see as much as I could along the way. I earned my first stamps that year and thus began my lifetime journey to see everything and collecting them all. Devil's Tower will always hold a special place in heart where I collected my first stamp and then spent three days learning to mountain climb and scaled to the top and back down on the third day.

During my Summer 2021 trip, there was no way I was going to miss a chance to back to where this all really started for me. This site was just as awesome as I remembered. Visitors can only climb up to the tree line without a permit and much needed technical climbing gear, but one only has to go a few feet above the line to lay your hands on the side. I will never be able to visit anywhere near the monument and not stop by for a good visit.

As part of the Summer Road-trip of 2022, Kahlan, William, and Avery joined me coming back to my oldest love in the National Park service. I took them on the hike around the base of the monument to give them the chance to climb and bounce around the massive rubble and rock. They had a blast and it brought a warmth to my heart to see them enjoy this site as much as myself.
