Mesa Verde National Park

Mesa Verde was a very cool visit. Visiting it with Kahlan, Avery, and William as part of the 2022 Summer Road-trip was worth every minute of our travels. Visitors get to traverse up the mountain side, take in the grand views, and tour the historical sites of the Pueblo Indian civilization that once resided here.

While there are a lot of hikes that can be done in this park, we were limited on time and only tackled the Knife Edge Trail near our campsite. Kahlan and William opted to skip the hike, but Avery joined for the walk at sunset along the side of one of the Mesas. The views were incredible and I think I snagged one my favorite and most beautiful photos of all time of Avery watching the sunset from at the end of the trail. It was about a 2 mile round trip hike with an extra mile of walking to and from the campsite. We got back after dark and found Kahlan and William a little edgy in the car that we didn't come back sooner, but otherwise all was well.

The next morning we drove the scenic tour up to the Pueblo cliffside dwellings and enjoy a sunrise drove back down off the mountain. It was great place to camp and I hope I get to return to take in more of the hikes and even partake of a ranger led tour into the dwellings themselves.
